I write to you with great unease. The creature I have spent the last twenty years studying, the Ramanga Deamhan known as Lucia, has done something that disturbs me to my core.
She has made another.
I am certain of it.
I do not know her reasons. Perhaps it was the loss of her sister, Aula, who took her own life by stepping into the sun. Perhaps it was boredom—for what else could drive a being of such unholy nature to create another like herself?
Either way, I was witness to the event. I could do nothing but observe from a distance. Even if I had wished to intervene, what could I—a mere researcher—do against Lucia, whose veins carry a thousand years of power? Even the mercenaries in our employ would stand little chance against her.
The girl survived the transformation. That, in itself, is a rarity.
But the true horror followed shortly after.
On the night of her rebirth, she killed her own mother. Lucia, as if to balance this act, slaughtered the girl’s father. A grotesque family tragedy, orchestrated by something older than time itself.
I shall continue my research. But I will do so from a distance.
There are some things that even the Brotherhood cannot control.
